Pipeline cleaning pigs are used to scour the pipe walls, remove debris, and swab the line into dust bags prior to placing the pigged transfer line into service. Cleaning pigs range in type from soft foam swabs to dense urethane coated bullets with plastic or stiff wire scrubbing brushes. Cleaning pigs are designed to negotiate through restrictions and tight elbows and are used to clean both piggable and standard transfer piping of debris remaining from pipe storage and installation.

Brush Pigs
Brush Pigs are bullet shaped cylinders with a dense foam core and a urethane coating of stiff plastic or wire brushes to scour the internal surfaces of the pipeline. As the pig moves through the pipeline, the foam core allows the pig to compress to navigate restrictions and elbows while keeping the brushes firmly in contact with the pipe wall. Brush pigs can be used to effectively clean both piggable and non-piggable transfer lines in preparation for production service.

Foam Swab Pigs
Foam Swab pigs are used for both drying the pipeline and swabbing out loose debris remaining from line welding and brush pig cleaning. Swab pigs are made from different foam densities with pig choice based on application need. Swab pigs can be used to effectively clean both piggable and non-piggable transfer lines in preparation for production service.

Dust Bags
Line cleaning is a 1-way process with the cleaning pig exiting the line at the discharge end. Dust bags are used to safely trap both the cleaning pig and the debris being pushed from the line while allowing the air pushed ahead of the pig to filter through the bag media.
