Confirm the Pigging Progress
Magnetic Pig Sensors
Pigging system operation requires periodic confirmation that pigs have reached their target destination. Magnetic Pig Sensors are mounted externally on the transfer pipeline and detect the magnet located in the pig. Pig detection triggers an LED that visually confirms for the operator a pig is present.
Outputs from the Magnetic Pig Sensor can signal an automated control system and be used to trigger auxiliary devices, such as strobe lights and horns. In addition to stationary pig detection, the Magnetic Pig Sensor can also provide detection of a moving pig for confirmation of pigging progress at key points in a long transfer line.
Pigging Solutions can provide magnetic pig sensors suitable for all electrical hazard classifications and which meet all appropriate US and international electrical standards.
When retrofitting existing transfer lines, Pigging Solutions has available strap-on retrofit pig sensors for stainless steel lines and pig sensor spools for carbon steel line retrofits.
Manual Pig Detectors
Pigging system operation requires periodic confirmation that pigs have reached their target destination. Manual Pig Detectors are positioned at strategic locations where pig confirmation is required. The Manual Pig Detector is equipped with a spring loaded steel rod the operator pushes into the pigging system. If the rod touches the pig and stops, the operator knows the pig is in position under the detector.
